Theory meets XFELs 2025
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the upcoming workshop:
“Theory meets XFELs 2025”
which will take place from the 26th to 28th November 2025 in Schenefeld and Hamburg, Germany.
Registration for the workshop will open on June 1 and will close on October 31.
Registration is free of charge for all participants.
The aim of the “Theory meets XFELs” workshop series, co-organised by European XFEL and the Centre for Free-Electron Laser Science (CFEL) at DESY, is to foster collaboration between theorists and experimentalists engaged in research with XFELs.
This year’s workshop is dedicated to recent theoretical developments in the fields of
- Extreme states of matter – From planetary science to inertial fusion energy research
- Strong-filed phenomena – Nonlinear x-ray – matter interaction and spectroscopy
- Ultrafast spin dynamics – Magnetism, transport and topological effects
- Ultrafast electron dynamics – Towards attosecond solid state physics
- Ultrafast structural dynamics – Phase transitions and lattice dynamics
and will be complemented by excellent examples of experimental applications of XFELs in these fields.

We look forward to welcoming you in Schenefeld and Hamburg!
Sincerely,
