Xcool Lab at the European XFEL in Hamburg – School laboratories for physics and molecular biology

🎓 A unique opportunity for Slovak high school students! 🎓

This year, Slovak high school students will have the opportunity to participate in school laboratories for physics and molecular biology directly on the premises of the prestigious European research infrastructure European XFEL in Hamburg.

The Xcool Lab program offers a unique experience – students will have the opportunity to try out scientific experiments in modern laboratories that connect school knowledge with real-world research. There are state-of-the-art physics and molecular biology laboratories available, where participants can work with X-rays or analyze DNA.

The laboratories are intended primarily for students aged approximately 16–19 and take place in the form of full-day modules during weekdays.

The goal of the program is to inspire the next generation of scientists and allow students to experience science “firsthand” in an environment where cutting-edge international research is conducted.

🔬 The Faculty of Science of the UPJŠ in Košice and NCPXFEL also offer students the opportunity to participate in a preparatory course before the Xcool Lab itself in September 2026.
