Xcool Lab introductory session

What does the work of scientists look like at one of the world’s most advanced research centers? The Xcool Lab workshop provides the answer.
It is an educational program created at European XFEL – a European research center near Hamburg that operates one of the most powerful X-ray lasers in the world.

The workshop bridges the gap between the school curriculum and real-world scientific research, offering students the opportunity to explore physical phenomena through hands-on experiments.
Participants will try their hand at measurement, observation, and formulating their own explanations for phenomena—activities that form the basis of modern research methods used in European XFEL laboratories.

An introductory session for Xcool Lab workshop participants will take place on September 18, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Jesenná 5, UPJŠ in Košice.

At this meeting, students will be introduced to the theoretical foundations of the exercise topics that will subsequently be the subject of the workshop
Xcool Lab, which will take place from October 12 to 15, 2026, at the European XFEL Facility in Hamburg.
